CAD 601 explained: what every Malaysian drone operator must hold in 2026
A plain-English walkthrough of RCoC-B, UASOC and the paperwork CAAM expects before a commercial UAV flight.

CAAM's Civil Aviation Directive 601 is the backbone of commercial drone work in Malaysia. Before you accept a paid mission you need a valid Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency (RCoC-B), an operator certificate where applicable, and aviation liability insurance.
Plan for a 14 working-day cushion on any approval that touches controlled airspace. Flights inside 5km of an aerodrome, above 400ft AGL, or beyond visual line of sight all need explicit approval, and the assessment clock only starts once your documents are complete.
On DroneLink MY every operator uploads these documents once. Our compliance auditors verify them, and posters see a verified badge before they award a job.
